Have a Minute to Spare? Subscribe to Stoney’s Snippets and Snaps

It’s amazing what you can think up while social distancing! Stoney Beavers, who joined the Alabama Best Practices Center as (our first) Assistant Director not long before schools closed in response to the pandemic, has dreamed up Stoney’s Snippets and Snaps as a way to highlight good ideas in a hurry.

A snippet is a brief (under a minute) audio+slide post where Stoney shares a good resource he’s discovered, spotlights an important book, or offers a helpful tip. Snippets are pushed out in our social media and collected on YouTube at the Stoney’s Snippets and Snaps Playlist. (Become a subscriber and you can keep up with new posts.)

Snippet: Book Snaps

Stoney kicks things off by highlighting the #BookSnaps idea which sparked his new project. BookSnaps are a great tool for students to annotate their work, for teachers to gather checks for understanding, as a tool with professional development, etc. It’s an idea developed by educator and writing coach Tara Martin (see her blog) and can be used with Snapchat, Google Slides, SeeSaw, and many other apps and platforms covered in Tara’s how-to videos.
