Announcing the Every Child Alabama Coalition!

We are thrilled to announce the official launch of the Every Child Alabama Coalition!

Building upon the vision set forth by A+ Education Partnership in 1991, the Every Child Alabama Coalition represents a diverse coalition of organizations and individuals dedicated to improving student opportunity and achievement in Alabama. Our mission is clear: to advocate for policies that ensure every child receives the education they need for a life filled with opportunities, regardless of their zip code or circumstance.

Together, we share a unifying belief that when every child receives the education they need, it strengthens communities, making them better places to live, raise a family, and conduct business.

Why are we launching this statewide coalition? For generations, Alabama has ranked nearly last in the nation for most educational outcomes. Still today, less than half of kids can read proficiently, and only 3 in 10 can do math on grade level. These numbers are even more devastating for students of color and students from low-income communities. Students are graduating unprepared for college, career, and life, without a pathway to a good job and economic mobility.

To change this reality, our first task is to modernize how we fund Alabama schools. It’s time to update Alabama’s outdated school funding formula to meet the needs of our students and provide them with the resources they need to succeed.
