Writing Institute 2

Two days, designed for IPs and/or lead teachers in grades 3-5. Rick Shelton will facilitate, with assistance from Jackie and Cathy. ARI is also collaborating with us on this Institute. Learning targets include:
1. Understand why writing is important to student success.
2. Explore the interdependency among the reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language strands of the ELA standards.
3. Discuss the writing progression used to develop proficient writers
4. Examine the types and purposes of writing and ways to provide differentiated support to students.
5. Consider strategies for writing across the curriculum.
6. Explore the role you and your colleagues play as writers.
7. Explore the range of writing necessary for students to gain the proficiency needed to become competent, confident writers.
Cost: $270 per person (includes lodging and meals during institute).
