Jennifer Abney joined A+ College Ready in 2026 and serves as Senior Director of Leadership & Support, where she leads efforts to strengthen leadership capacity and provide differentiated support to schools and districts across Alabama. She works alongside school leaders to strengthen instructional systems, develop effective leadership practices, and create sustainable structures that expand access to rigorous, high-quality learning for all students.
With more than 20 years of experience in education, Jennifer has served as a teacher, principal, district leader, curriculum coordinator, and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) education specialist. Her career includes leadership roles with St. Clair County Schools, Trussville City Schools, and the Alabama State Department of Education. She has also experienced A+ College Ready from the school and district perspectives, serving as principal of an A+ College Ready school and as a curriculum coordinator supporting a district of A+ schools. Jennifer holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a master’s degree in instructional leadership from Samford University.
Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, Tommy, their two children, Zac and Anna, and their dogs, Gus and Mille.
