
Dieatra Howie serves as Vice President of A+ College Ready, where she leads the organization’s strategic direction and works to expand educational opportunities for students across Alabama. She was drawn to nonprofit work by a deep commitment to advancing opportunities for all students, and that commitment continues to guide her leadership today. She oversees operations, budget, and program teams and represents the organization with state and national partners.
Dieatra brings more than 20 years of experience in education and nonprofit leadership. She joined the A+ team in 2018 as Social Studies Content Director, where she directed statewide curriculum development and professional learning before being promoted into her current role. Earlier in her career, she taught social studies courses, including Advanced Placement courses, was recognized as the Alabama History Teacher of the Year, and served as an instructional coach and graduation coach in Alabama and Georgia schools. She holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Social Science Education from Troy University, a master’s in Instructional Leadership from Jacksonville State University, and an Educational Specialist degree from Auburn University at Montgomery.
Outside of work, Dieatra enjoys traveling and writing, and she remains driven by the belief that education offers one of life’s greatest opportunities to make a lasting difference.
