Several students at A+ College Ready schools were recently recognized as semifinalists in the 51st annual National Achievement Scholarship Program. Sponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, the National Achievement Scholarship Program recognizes Black American high school students for outstanding academic achievement and community involvement. More than 160,000 high school juniors from across the United States requested consideration for this program, and of those 1,600 were selected as semifinalists. Roughly 800 Finalists will be announced this spring, and will receive scholarships totaling $2.5 million. Founded in 1964, the National Achievement Scholarship Program has to date awarded $105 million in scholarships.
