Thirty-two high schools across Alabama submitted applications to become new A+ College Ready program schools. Daylong site visits were conducted to select approximately 15 new schools to participate in the program. The new high schools which will be announced in early February, will join 43 others currently participating.

Applications to join Cohort IV were due on Sept. 30. High schools that are selected through this competitive RFP process will be required to implement proven strategies to increase significantly the number of students taking and receiving qualifying scores in math, science and English AP courses and exams.

In an effort to expand opportunities to high-need areas and to serve underrepresented populations, priority will be given to high schools with less than 15 AP courses. School and school system administrations are expected to provide support for MSE lead teachers, necessary facilities, equipment, scheduling consideration, logistical assistance, and student advisement to help ensure the success of the program.
