Computer Science Discoveries (CS Discoveries) is an introductory computer science course developed by Code.org for 7th – 9th grade students. (A+ College Ready recommends it be taught in 7th/8th grade.) The curriculum emphasizes problem-solving, creation, and collaboration, while introducing students to the many ways computer science impacts their lives. The course helps to create a pipeline of students prepared to participate in high school computer science courses, including Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles.
Active Alabama public school teachers may attend at no cost.
Private/home school teachers are welcome to attend at a cost of $750/teacher.
Priority will be given to teachers who plan to teach this course to students in the 2018-19 school year. A teacher must be certified in either math, science and/or career technical education in order to be eligible to teach the course.
Registered participants who are no longer able to attend should cancel their registration to avoid being subject to a $200.00 no-show fee.
