E3 is a four-day immersive training event designed to equip Alabama middle and high school science teachers with the opportunity to lay the foundation for powerful science instruction across the state.

In 2023, Alabama adopted a new Science Course of Study, which will be implemented in the 2025-2026 school year. For the last year, a team of Alabama science teachers has worked to write a new A+ College Ready curriculum for all three middle grade courses, Biology, Chemistry, and Physical Science, that will address the new standards.

The curriculum contains complete lesson plans, proficiency scales, student progress monitoring documents, teacher slides, and student totes. Teachers can explore the lesson from the students’ perspective and discuss the lesson implementation with their peers.

This summer also marks an exciting expansion! For the first time, A+ College Ready offers training and a high school Physical Science curriculum! Designed as a bridge between 8th-grade Physical Science and upper-level Physics and Chemistry, this course aims to close content gaps and inspire more students to pursue science confidently.

Build your Lab of Learning

Alabama’s updated science standards focus on three essential domains: Physical Science, Earth and Space Science, and Life Science.

During E3 training, a knowledgeable facilitator will integrate course-specific content and skills, model research-based pedagogical strategies, and build a community of learners within the training classroom. Teacher participants can grow together, ask questions, and experience the course-specific lessons first-hand.

You’ll leave with a digital curriculum, paper manipulatives, and a toolbox of ready-to-implement lessons. It’s a place to build lasting professional relationships and a shared vision for science education in Alabama.

Here’s what we’re building into every lesson:

  1. Science Inquiry – Encouraging students to investigate and construct their own understanding.

  2. Data Science – Integrating real-world data analysis to explain trends and drive conclusions.

  3. Multi-Modal Learning – Leveraging videos, simulations, virtual field trips, and more to meet diverse learning styles.

  4. Phenomenon-Based Instruction – Anchoring each unit in real-world phenomena that spark curiosity and investigation.

Ready to Build?

We hope teachers fill their pedagogical toolboxes with lessons and strategies to increase student achievement and elicit critical thinking. Teachers will leave training with a complete digital curriculum, paper manipulatives, and high expectations for what their students will do in the upcoming year!
