Qualifying Scores Earned by Alabama Students
Since 2008, the number of students with a Qualifying Score has more than quadrupled.
Minority students’ qualifying scores have gone from 576 to 5,768 since 2008, and students in poverty’s qualifying scores have nearly tripled since 2014.
Since 2008, the number of AP exam takers has more than tripled.
Since 2010, the number of students in poverty who have taken AP exams has grown 5X. Minority students taking exams have increased by 5X since 2008.
Middle School Training & Incentive Program
Our Success Starts in Middle Schools
A+ College Ready begins supporting students in middle school to support their achievements long-term. As our state data shows, students tend to fall behind during middle grades. In partnership with the Alabama State Department of Education and the Alabama Legislature, A+ College Ready provides targeted support to middle school students, teachers, and administrators through professional learning and curriculum developed by Alabama teachers and fully aligned to the Alabama Course of Study. This alignment is a core element of all courses supported by A+ College Ready. Students participating in MSTIP showed meaningful academic gains. Computer Science Training Impact
A+ College Ready is the largest provider of high-quality computer science professional learning for K-12 educators in Alabama. Through course-specific training, certification support, and instructional resources, teachers develop the knowledge needed to successfully implement computer science courses. To build the pipeline of certified computer science educators, A+ College Ready offers Praxis 5652 preparation through hybrid/asynchronous coursework, mentoring, and programming bootcamps. Additional support includes teacher mentoring sessions, statewide conferences, student study sessions, AP Mock Exam Readings, and Programming Bootcamps that help educators deepen their content knowledge and instructional practice.
