Year 1 & Year 2 

A+ College Ready E3 Summer Training provides educators with content-based, pedagogy-driven, teacher-to-teacher training, designed to Equip teachers with the methods, tools, and resources needed to Empower students to be engaged and motivated learners so that we may Expect More for education in Alabama! The curricula and strategies covered in this four-day training have been designed to increase rigor in the classroom for all children. Attendance at this training will meet a program/pipeline school teacher’s requirement for Year 1 or Year 2 training and make him/her eligible for a 2019-20 Letter of Agreement (LOA). Teachers who attend this training event will receive:

– Specialized training designed by expert educators for teachers of any level.
– Full access to rigorous classroom-ready lessons.
– Vertical alignment across grade levels.
– Ongoing support from expert educators.

Year 3–The New Art and Science of Teaching–

A+ College Ready proudly offers teachers from ALL DISCIPLINES* and ALL GRADE LEVELS a two-day, in-depth study of Marzano Research’s The New Art and Science of Teaching.  Attendance at both days of this training will meet a program/pipeline school teacher’s requirement for YEAR 3 training and make him/her eligible for a 2019-20 Letter of Agreement (LOA).

The New Art and Science of Teaching is a well-researched instructional framework that comprehensively addresses the most alterable effect on student achievement—QUALITY INSTRUCTION. In summer, 2018 A+ College Ready infused many of the instructional elements from the framework into the E3 training.  This two-day training event will follow up on that introduction and equip teachers to more intentionally implement ALL of the elements in their classrooms.  The premise is that teachers who implement these instructional strategies will, in turn, help students use mental processes that successively enhance the learning. In other words, it’s not enough to merely use an instructional strategy, but more important to ensure it has the desired learning effect for students.  

Year 3 – Computer Science – July 9th & 10th OR July 11th & 12th

Hands on Python Programming with CodeSpace and Physical Computing

Thanks to our friends at Huntsville-based Firia Labs, we are offering an opportunity for teachers to attend a 2-day training session on the use of CodeSpace, the premier Python development platform for learning and making with the micro:bit.  This 2-day workshop is designed for all teachers interested in providing an opportunity for their students to learn to program micro:bits in Python using the CodeSpace platform.  This is a great year 3 training for AP Computer Science Principles teachers, form both program and non-program schools.   This training is available, at no cost, to all Alabama public school computer science teachers who are interested in enhancing their knowledge and learning an exciting and engaging way to teach their students computer science.  All Alabama public school teachers who attend this training will also be provided with a Jumpstart Kit from FiriaLabs to take back and use in their classroom.   More information about Firia Labs and their products can be found HERE.
