Computer Science Fall Conference (AP)/ Workshop (MS) 2020-21

A+ College Ready’s Computer Science Fall Conference (AP)/ Workshop (MS) is designed as follow-up training for teachers implementing the course specific curriculum presented at the A+ College Ready E3 four-day summer training event. It is also a great opportunity for experienced teachers to learn about the new customized Alabama curricula and resources available to them. Workshops are designed to deepen teachers’ content knowledge, to expand on pedagogical skills associated with the lessons, and to strengthen implementation strategies such as differentiation, assessment, technology infusion, engaging learners, etc. This year’s workshops will be held virtually and will consist of a training series in November and a training series in January. Each of the series consists of three 2-hour sessions, for a total of six 2-hour sessions.

In order to be fully trained to teach the course, a teacher must attend this event to learn about semester II of the curriculum. Computer Science teachers who have signed a Letter of Agreement (LOA) with A+ College Ready for the 2020-21 school year are expected to attend a series in both November and January.

Computer Science Fall (November) Series:

• Middle School and APCS Principles have three attendance options:

1. Week of November 2nd (7:00 pm, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday),
2. Week of November 9th (4:00 pm, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday),
3. or Saturday November 14th (9:00 am, 11:00 am and 1:00 pm).

• APCSA will only be offered the week of November 9th; Option 2.
• Sessions within each series option must be completed in order.
• Teachers of multiple courses can register for a different week for each course.
• All teachers must complete six 2-hour sessions (3 in November, 3 in January) in order to be fully trained and to receive credit hours on Powerschool.

Registration for the entire six session workshop is free for teachers who attended training for MSCS, APCSP or APCSA in Summer 2020 and A+ College Ready Program Schools (Cohorts 11, 12 , 13, pipeline, MSTIP, and ITIP), $200 for teachers in A+ College Ready Partner Schools and $400 for teachers of non-affiliated schools. A purchase order or the name of your authorizing administrator will be requested as part of your registration, and the district will be invoiced after your initial registration for the November series.

Registration for the January 3-part training session will be available at a later date.
