The mission of Pike Road Schools is to create a culture of intellectual curiosity where all students have ownership over their learning and are inspired to think, innovate, and create. We are driven by 13 belief statements and a vision that our students are lifelong learners who use their knowledge, skills, and influence to make the world a better place. Essential components of our curriculum and learning design include but are not limited to project, passion and problem based learning, multiple learning pathways, blended learning, field experiences, and community service. A standards-based assessment approach, along with digital portfolios to showcase students’ work, and celebration of learning events capture student depth of learning and mastery of content. Professional learning and collaborative leadership is embedded into our culture. Participants will visit classrooms where students are engaged in their own learning, can tell what they are learning and why, and what they are doing to ensure that they develop the knowledge and skills required of that learning.
