E.R. Dickson Elementary (Mobile County) Instructional Round

E. R. Dickson Elementary School is part of the Mobile County Public School System (MCPSS) and serves approximately 825 students in grades PreK-5. We serve a diverse population with 68% African American, 23% Caucasian, 5% Hispanic, 4% Asian, and 0% other and multi-race. We have 79.9% of our students who receive free/reduced lunch.
E. R. Dickson Elementary School was named the Alabama Exemplary Reading School by the International Literacy Association in 2015. As an MCPSS Innovation School, we focus on Digital Literacy through project-based learning experiences for our students. We are a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) site.
Further, E. R. Dickson is a Talents Unlimited International Demonstration Site. E. R. Dickson utilizes every opportunity to build a culture of engaged, motivated learners that will impact the world through critical and creative thinking. The overall instructional framework engages students in instruction that fosters the development of skills needed to be successful, not only academically, but as productive citizens of society.
Our instructional schedule design allows common planning for all grade levels and opportunities for collaborative weekly and unit planning, professional development sessions, and continued efforts toward collective efficacy.
