What can participants expect to see when they visit?
Participants can expect to see optimism, professionalism, and enthusiasm as they walk the hallways of Orange Beach Elementary. Students will be engaged in Guided Reading, as led by their teachers in the Guided Reading County Cadre, and students will track their academics through the use of Leadership Binders. Orange Beach Elementary proudly encourages students to be Leaders of Their Own Learning, tracking their individual progress and achievements. Students hold leadership roles and practice the Leader in Me Habits daily. Students will be engaged in small group guided lessons in various subjects. Orange Beach Elementary is also known for their museum, Sea, Sand, and Stars, where visitors may visit to be part of the local Marine Life visible in touch tanks, as well as large and small aquariums. The museum also houses microscopes and a planetarium where students learn about the Solar System and constellations. Orange Beach Elementary has increased test scores in the following subject areas: 10% growth in Reading and 16% growth in Math. As a reflection of students being leaders of their own learning, we also have the following data to share: increased attendance, increased use of Reading Resource Room, increased student library book check-out, less discipline referrals, and increased parent and community support.
