McBride Elementary (Muscle Shoals) Instructional Round

Instructional Rounds are free to all PCN members for their first round. Participation in more than one round is welcomed, but participants will be charged $75 to cover our costs.

Begin: 8:15 a.m.
End: 2:00 p.m.

McBride Elementary School is part of the Muscle Shoals City School System and serves all the students in grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th for the district. Total enrollment is 658.
Muscles Shoals City Schools is currently ranked as the 7th Best School District in Alabama. McBride Elementary School received an overall rating of “A” on the state department’s most recent report card. In 2016, McBride was recognized by PARCA (Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama) for continuing to refine its approach to mastering standards in reading. Using the district’s professional development strand concept plus the job-embedded nature of professional development delivered in partnership with the instructional coach, teachers participate in a variety of professional learning experiences that are targeted toward district strategic goals. Some of the success can be attributed to teachers’ using data to monitor student progress throughout the year in both reading and math. Last year, Professional Learning Communities were launched to link and support teacher developed learning plans (PLPs).
McBride’s problem of practice is focused on the use of student-friendly learning targets. Specifically, the problem of practice addresses the development and use of student-friendly learning targets that enable both teachers and students to monitor and assess progress.
